Video

The story of the festival through videos.

We’ve put a lot of effort along the years to create quite a few videos that catch the spirit of the festival. It’s not simple to convey the experience in words, and so video is a good way to know the festival or to recall, and to touch the experience in a more direct way. Those videos are also documenting the development of the festival during the years.

The first video is telling the story of the festival most thoroughly.

All of the videos were filmed and edited by Zohar Ron.

Switch to full screen, turn up the volume and enjoy diving into the reality of the Sufi festival.

The remembrance – Dhikre ceremony

A special video about the Dhikr ceremony at the festival, Dhikr means remembrance, one of the ancient and central practices of the Sufis, one of the main rituals and highlights of the festival – as far as we know, this is the largest Dhikr ceremony in the world with over 1500 participants.
The music of the Gil Ron Shema ensemble was recorded live from the ceremony at the festival.

The central whirling ceremony – Sufi Whirling

A special video dedicated to the Sufi whirling, also one of the oldest and most associated practices with the Sufis. The main whirling ceremony is usually held on the Saturday of the festival at 12:00 noon and is accompanied by the final orchestra of Harel Shachel, which includes about 30 musicians, an orchestra formed especially for the festival, accompanying it over the years and playing ancient and original materials intended for the final whirling dance. The whole audience is also invited to hang around.
